Come out to the Lexington County Museum every Thursday in June at 10:00 am for for a children’s Hands-on History event. This free program will feature a different activity each occurrence and is a great way for kids to learn about history while having fun. Registration is required for this event. Lexington Murders and Mysteries Walking Tour

The Lexington County Museum will offer its FREE “Murders and Mysteries” walking tour of downtown Lexington on June 19th starting at 8 pm. This tour is a great way to learn about the history of the town and hear some very interesting stories along the way. Attendees will learn about some of the murders, trials, and other crimes that occurred on Lexington’s Main Street in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This free tour will begin at the town’s Icehouse Amphitheater and will last just over an hour. Attendees will follow a guide between Church Street and South Lake Drive. Because of the mature subject matter, attendees must be 18 or over or have parental permission. The Revolutionary War in Lex. County and SC Lecture Series

The Friends of the Lexington County Museum are pleased to announce the first Summer Speaker Series. In June, July, and August, the Friends will have three historians speak about different topics related to the American Revolution. On June 25, Lexington County Museum director J.R. Fennell will give a presentation on Lexington County in the American Revolution. On July 23, Dr. Sean Gallagher, a professor of history at the University of SC, will deliver a lecture based on his research. On August 27, Josh Shumak will present on Native Americans in the American Revolution in SC.
These events, which will take place at the Lexington Municipal Complex, will begin at 6:30 pm with wine and cheese available. The lectures will begin at 7:00 pm.
